the Levee Breaking

On The Backburner!

The Album Showcase is on the backburner at the moment while we develop other projects.

The Album Showcase

The Levee Breaking presents a quarterly showcase of local and independently released albums and EPs. Three albums are selected for each region (Northwest and Northeast) each quarter.

The albums are featured in listening stations hosted by arts-supportive coffee houses. The artists are featured in the site for the duration of the quarter, and in showcase concerts taking place in New York and Seattle.

The Northeast showcase focuses on the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada, while the Northwest showcase is centered around the Pacific Northwest. However, both are open to musicians from all regions.

The Online Showcase: The featured albums from each showcase are posted to the Levee Breaking site for the duration of the showcases (from which point they'll be included in the showcase history).

The Physical Showcase: The albums are featured in listening stations hosted by coffee shops around the Pacific Northwest and Northeastern United States, depending on the region of the showcase. At the close of the showcase the author(s) receive 90% of all album sales.

Showcase Concerts: Each quarter we put on a pair of showcase concerts (Northeast and Northwest) with the featured artists. These are generally free, all-ages concerts. We seek out atypical performance venues that get performers out of bars and in front of diverse all ages crowds.

Submit An Album!

The Album Showcase is not currently accepting submissions.

Watch the Submissions Deadline calendar for updates, and contact Mike White through the Staff Page with any questions about the Album Showcase.

Host A Listening Station!

Listening stations are hosted by arts-supportive coffee shops in the Pacific Northwest and Northeastern United States. 90% of album sales goes to the artists, 10% of to the business hosting the display.

Download cards with key codes for each album are free for people to walk off with. The cards are worth $2 towards downloading an album, or $1 towards a physical copy of the album. At the end of each quarter, businesses recieve a check for the sales that came from their store. (downloads keys are store specific)
