About The Levee Breaking
The Levee Breaking is a support-the-arts nonprofit based in the Pacific Northwest. Drawing inspiration from the Slow Food Movement, we produce creative projects that are locally and regionally focused, intensely collaborative, and geared towards engaging emerging artists and their communities.
Our mission is, with localized/regional focus, to strengthen and unify music, film making, performing & visual art communities through collaborative, community inspired creative projects. The ideal projects succeed by engaging emerging artists and showcasing their work, directly involving and contributing to the larger community, and resulting in an increasingly connected and self-aware arts community.
Our projects take place on quarterly, annual, and ongoing calendars. Most of our projects are focused in the Pacific Northwest/Cascades region, the Northeastern United States, and Eastern Canada.
Some of our projects have submissions deadlines. Upcoming dates and submissions deadlines will show up in the Calendar to your left, and are detailed along side specific projects in the Projects Page.
The Levee Breaking is an Associated Program of Shunpike.
